St David’s Team

Don Knight
Elder
I am one of the leaders at St David’s. Husband of Joy, father of three and grandfather of seven. I have had a fulfilling working life as a dairy farmer for 10 years, then Area Sales Rep in various regions of NZ.
I am a keen DIY home handyman specialising in home renovations, painting & gardening.
My passion is endeavouring to apply biblical principles to everyday life, and communicating the good news of Jesus Christ as Saviour for all. I am enjoying this time of life, doing what I believe God is calling me to.

Warwick Jacques
Elder
I am a retired engineer married with 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. I enjoy flying model aircraft with the Wairarapa Model Aeroclub and making things at the Carterton MenzShed.
I grew up in Mt Maunganui, however my working life was spent in Lower Hutt and Auckland.
I have been a member of the fellowship at St David’s for 6 years and am part of the sight and sound team.
In 2024 I was commissioned onto the parish council, becoming a part of the leadership team, whose aim is to build a Christ-Centred fellowship reaching out to the community.

Bill Jamieson
Elder
I walked the first 20 years of my life as an ungodly, selfish young man. Clearly, God caused me to meet Margaret who was very strong in her faith plus practical, with a bubbling sense of humour. Margaret’s faith was instrumental in my coming to the Lord. We married in 1961, were blessed with 3 children and 55 years of wonderful marriage.
I know that God’s word is unchanging, unerring, always our plumbline, always the lamp for our feet, the light for our path. I am committed to being part of the team that helps steer St David’s along that path.

Ann Allen
Elder
I come from a farming background, which has been very fulfilling & kept me fit! I love to research the Word of God, led by Holy Spirit, to understand more and be able to share with others.
I am privileged to be on the leadership team of St David’s. I love the connection we share and I love being part of God’s family, serving Him.
I am excited about where God is leading us. We’re growing in faith and seeking God’s will, individually, and as a church family. We’re seeing His hand of blessing working through us. Praise God!

Judy Monastra
Elder
I am Sydney born and bred. NZ became home after I married my wonderful kiwi husband, John
We have 4 amazing kids and 8 grandies, 6 of whom live locally. It’s a great privilege seeing the children often, and being involved in their lives.
I have an admin and social services background. You will find me in the church office on Tuesdays and Fridays managing admin tasks – however my greatest joy is encouraging and walking alongside people as they come into a deeper relationship with Jesus.
My passion is seeing others grow and become whom God calls them to be.

Judith Jacques
Prayer Coordinator
I was born in Wellington and raised in Tawa and I became a Christian at 12 years of age. I have been involved with children’s ministries, global focus ministry and public speaking in several churches throughout my life and have been in Carterton since 2019.
I am married to Warwick and have two sons, a daughter and four grandchildren. I am passionate about deepening my relationship with God and enjoy encouraging others in their faith journeys.
I am an avid reader and am drawn to stories about people’s lives being transformed when they encounter Jesus’ love in their difficulties.
Our Community Groups
Sunday Worship
Sundays from 10:00am
Join us for Sunday worship at our welcoming Christian Fellowship in the heart of Wairarapa. Each service offers reflection, prayer, uplifting music, and a message rooted in God’s word. All are invited to connect, grow in faith, and share in community. Come as you are.
Prayer Breakfast
1st Saturday each month 8am – 10am (except Jan)
On the first Saturday of every month, we have a refreshing time of praise, worship and prayer with people from various churches in the Wairarapa.
With the recent fires in Masterton, we again have seen the need for prayer – that all our valley will be protected by God’s hand – that people will be safe.
There are many needs in our community and Nation. Our God says, “cast your cares upon Me for I care for you”. We take Him at His word!
Prayer is followed by great chats over a simple but yummy breakfast.
“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests.’ Eph 6:18a
Women’s Bible Study Group
Every 2nd Wednesday from 1:00pm
The Women’s Bible Study Group meets midweek at St David’s, Carterton, offering a welcoming space for discussion, learning, friendship, and spiritual growth together.
These ladies are real about the ups and downs of life, raising families, caring for one another and balancing the many demands of modern day life. What a difference it makes to have good supportive friendships, where our foundation is the Word of God, and we can have a good laugh (or cry) together and be honest. There are many stories to share of how God has been our anchor, and our friends are God with skin on!”. Contact Joan Whiteman 027 246 6905.
“I had the joy of becoming a part of St David’s 2 years ago. I felt so welcomed and accepted. Their support, kindness and warmth has held me through a very difficult time in my life. They have soaked me in prayer, love and God’s promises. I have personally seen the word of God in action through the leadership and the amazing women of St David’s“
Men’s Happy Hour
Wednesdays from 10:30am
Men’s Happy hour is about a big chin wag with coffee and cake thrown in! We usually start with discussing how God is encouraging us, but our time has an organic life of its own.
We support each other and share brotherly love ‘real man’ style! A quote from one of our men ” it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in a group like this – it’s a healthy couple of hours on Wednesdays”.
All men are welcome, no matter what age or stage of life.

Stitch 4 Kids
Meeting on the 2nd and 4th Fridays each month, from 10am – 2pm
Our “Stitch 4 Kids” group meets twice a month in the Youth Wing, sewing machines in hand, and uses donated fabric to sew dresses and shorts. Initially this was for orphanages in Timor Leste and now also for other countries where we have contacts.
Follow the laughter and you will find half a dozen regulars and others who attend occasionally, in a win/win activity. We love sewing and get a big thrill out of seeing photos of children wearing the clothes we have made. Come and join us!
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”

Kiddie Gym
Wednesdays 9:30am – 11:00am during school terms
Psalm 127 verse 3 says “Sons are a heritage from the Lord and children are a reward from Him”
At Kiddie Gym every Wednesday morning, we are privileged to welcome “God’s rewards”, their parents, grandparents and carers, to play, interact and share with one another.
The children have great fun playing on the colourful equipment, with lots of laughter and excitement!
St David’s provides a happy, safe place to meet others, and to foster friendships amongst the children and adults alike. It’s heart warming to see adults from different walks of life chatting in our ‘cozy corner’, supporting one another.
We provide yummy home baking and tea/coffee for the grown ups, plus fruit and crackers for the kiddies.
We love kiddie gym and we’re sure you will too – we’d love you to join us

Kidz K’nect
Kids K’Nect meets on Sundays @ 10am during school terms.
This is our weekly session for primary aged children.
Our aim is to bring the children into a deeper knowledge and love of the Word of God … AND the God of the Word!
The children have fun as they learn to shine for Jesus.
We welcome the children into the first part of our Sunday service, and then go to the Youth Wing for their separate story time.
Our children’s leader is Ann Marie Boyd, an accomplished pianist, singer, story teller and primary school teacher, with a big soft heart, full of love and all things good.
Wai Youth Orchestra
